Information Liability

Study Group is the distance learning partner of the University of Lincoln providing the support and administrative services for distant learning students. The Work Based Distance Learning programmes are accredited, and the degrees issued by the University of Lincoln.

Study Group is responsible for maintaining the content for the Work Based Distance Learning Programmes featured on the microsite “dlsg.lincoln.ac.uk” referred to from here in as the microsite. Study Group makes every possible effort to ensure that the information published on the microsite is accurate and up to date, but reserves the right to make amendments at any time and without prior notice.

Any hypertext links to third party websites not affiliated with the University of Lincoln, or Study Group is for the convenience of users only. By linking to these websites Study Group or the University of Lincoln in no way endorse the contents, views or information held on such sites.

To the fullest extent permitted by the law, Study Group nor any of its officers or employees shall be liable for any loss, additional costs or damage howsoever arising, suffered as a result of using the microsite or hyperlinks provided to third party websites.

Course information is correct at the time of publication. It is issued for the general guidance of students entering the Work Based Distance Learning programmes. To allow for flexibility in delivery of the course, and updates which take into account the changing nature of the course subject matter, Study Group and the University of Lincoln reserves the right to withdraw or to make alterations to courses as necessary.

Privacy Notices

The points below relate to all data submitted to the University via our website:

  • The University may use the data anonymously to monitor system efficiency or for statistical purposes.
  • Unless otherwise stated, all information submitted via our website is held securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
  • We will not pass your details to third parties, unless we are legally obliged or allowed to do so.

Prospectus requests, open day bookings and requests for marketing information:

  • We may use the information you provide to fulfil further requests for information and services, or to contact you with information that may be of interest to you.
  • Your information will not be used for decision making with regard to applications to the University.
  • If you are thinking of applying for a course at the University we will send you important information.
  • If you wish to unsubscribe from communications we provide a link to do so in the footer of all email communications.

Online Forms

A number of online forms are contained within our web pages which are provided for your convenience, e.g. to answer your general enquiries or to apply and enrol for a programme. Study Group and the University of Lincoln do not automatically capture and store any personal information about the individuals who access the microsite, unless this information is explicitly volunteered by the visitor. Any information you choose to provide using online forms is not matched to your use of our web site and your visits to our website are therefore totally anonymous. The data obtained from some online forms will be stored in our Customer Relations Management system. We may contact you using this information in relation to your original communication.


The WBDL microsite uses cookies to recognise users who have previously visited the microsite, or who have arrived at the microsite from certain sources such as emails and online adverts. These cookies are used to assist us in providing a more tailored service to our visitors. These cookies contain no personal information.

You may refuse the use of cookies through your browser settings, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of some websites.


The microsite uses Google Analytics to inform us of statistical information about website performance and usage. Information gathered is anonymous and used only to gather statistical data about website usage and does not contain personal information.

This Cookie is a third party cookie set by Google. The information generated by the cookie about website usage will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers outside of the UK. Google uses this information for the purpose of evaluating our website's usage, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. If you email us with a query, the information you provide to us will be used to respond to your query. We may use your contact details to communicate with you regarding programme information and services which may be of interest to you.
